The Associate - Book Review

The latest John Grisham's books have disappointed many readers, with excursions into the mainstream and non-fiction. Now back to the master of the legal thriller genre that has determined their luck with the new novel, the Associate.

The protagonist of this book is Kyle McAvoy, a young lawyer from York, a lad of great expectations but with a secret in his past. Strangers approached him claiming to have evidence that during his college years he was involved in a rape, the men move on behalf of a client who has strong interests in a case concerning a bomber commissioned by the Pentagon.

Kyle must agree to work in New York, the world's largest law firm to move to the blackmailers top secret news ... What will choose to make the young Kyle? Will bend to blackmail or rebel to find even his own ethics?...

John Grisham Biography

John Grisham was born on February 8, 1955 in Jonesboro, Arkansas and is the second of five siblings in a modest family in the south.
His father worked as a construction worker and as a cotton farmer. Initially, the family moved often, but eventually moved permanently to Southaven, Mississippi.
John since childhood, influenced by his mother, becomes an avid reader and is particularly fond of John Steinbeck, whose love clarity.
During the period when a student at Mississippi State University, Grisham began keeping a journal, something that is useful in its recreation.
He graduated in Law in 1981 and for about ten years he practiced as a lawyer in Southaven.

In 1983 he was elected to the Democrats in the House of Representatives from Mississippi, where he remained until 1990 while continuing his legal profession. In his spare time and as a hobby, Grisham began work on his first novel, in which telling what might happen if the father of a girl raped, he killed his attackers. Thus was born A Time to Kill, which will be completed in 1987 initially rejected by many publishers.
Finally, the Wynwood Press, 1988 agrees to publish the novel, with a circulation of only 5,000 copies.
Soon after A Time to Kill, he dedicated himself to his second novel. The member was one of the best-selling books in 1991. The U.S. magazine Publishers Weekly declared Grisham "The writer sold most of the nineties, with a total of 60,742,289 copies.
In his novels, Grisham pours much of his experience as a lawyer and are indeed defined legal thriller, and are the subject of many film versions.

His other works are successful: Customer (1993), The Jury (1996), A Painted House (2001) and more recently The Appeal (2008)
